Recap: #TheVS Party and Back to Life NYC!

November was a busy one for your girl! Earlier this month I spun #TheVS, a party New York Magazine rated Best of New York Nightlife for 2016. The theme this time was a favorite: Neptunes vs Timbaland! Peep the recap video!

This Saturday, December 3rd, I'll be making my debut at Back to Life at Louie and Chan! I first went to this party earlier this year and had one of the best times I've had in a while. The tunes were super fresh and as the music is all UK vibes, I was put on to quite a bit of music I hadn't heard before. I've been back several times since and I always have a great time. I'll be laying down a UK inspired set of my own. I'm admittedly nervous but up for the challenge! If you RSVP, you'll have free entry before midnight! Click here for details and peep the flyer below.

Don't miss out on all the fun! Join my mailing list below or follow me on social media (Twitter or Instagram or Facebook) to stay in the loop on my upcoming events!

New Party Alert!

A few weeks ago, one of my favorite spots in NYC, Louie and Chan, kicked off a weekly party, Shapes!

Shapes features a rotating lineup of DJs from around the world. In just a few short weeks this party has featured DJs such as mOma, Mayer Hawthorne (he was a DJ before he was the singer he is today!), Darling Chuck, and more!

This week, I'm really excited to spin a set with Jennifly, ThaYellowRKel, and one of my favorite DJs, Cosmo Baker. It's FREE if you RSVP, and $10 if you don't so you know what to do. See you Friday!

"So...what are you listening to now?"

A common question I get. The answer can be found on my tumblr! I post up songs (some for free download!), videos, and short articles about artists, both new and old, I am feeling. I always note their place of birth, as the world truly feels small and great when you see how much great music exists outside of your region, or even your country.

Peep my tumblr, Sound Travels, and take a trip with me :).

You can also follow me on Twitter and Instagram. I post about new music and upcoming shows of artists I really like. As a DJ, it is really important to me that I support the artists who make the music that make my job so easy and such a pleasure!

Makossa BK Finale

Our seventh year of Makossa Brooklyn Cookout has been amazing. We've had some great collaborations and have brought out some really amazing DJs across genres. It's been a trip!

We are having our season finale on Saturday, September 3rd at The Roof at Output! Labor Day Weekend in NYC done right! This is a perfect space and that sound system? It's going to be a great time!

Unfortunately, Wonway and Shinobi are unable to be there but they will be in spirit! We decided to gather a dream team of guest DJs to make sure we send Summer 2016 off in high style.

We've got Francesca Harding, resident of Makossa LA, our sister party. We've also got Khalil of the UK DJ collective Livin' Proof. His monthly NYC party, Back to Life, is one of my most favorite parties right now. The music is so good - London vibes in a posh LES basment. It's a great time.

We also have GETLIVE! who consistently rocks every party he spins and to close out the lineup, we have legendary Max Glazer of Federation Sound to provide a proper set for Carnival weekend and more!

There are a limited number of discounted tickets available so save yourself a buck or two and buy yours here!

New Mix: Tara on The Refresh Live 8/22/16

Hey! This past Monday I was the guest DJ for The Refresh, a dope live radio mix show hosted by Kieran Meadows! Leave it to a fellow Native New Yorker to broadcast live from a great little bar on the LES/East Village border. The entire show is great (including a cameo by Melle Melle's cousin who happened to walk by with his wife and wanted to chat) but you can check my mix around the 1:22:00 mark. Enjoy!

New Mix! Motown on Mondays Starting Next Week!

Next week, DJs Still Life, Dstrukt, Mawkus, Tap.10, and yours truly are bringing the weekly international party Motown on Mondays to BROOKLYN!

This party goes on simultaneously in 25 cities worldwide!

Monday, April 4th kicks off the return of MoM in New York! Motown on Mondays Brooklyn is being held in the neighborhood that holds the most heart and soul in Brooklyn - Bedford Stuyvesant (I'm a long time resident! I'm biased!). We'll be holding court at Bed Vyne Brew (370 Tompkins Avenue) every Monday night from 6pm-12am with a rotating cast of DJs and special guests. This is the perfect Happy Hour to roll to after work and we are rockin every week bringing you something soulful to start your week!

In anticipation of our debut, Dstrukt and Still Life have created some dope Motown Remixes for FREE download, and Mawkus and I collaborated on a mix! Check it out below and see you on Monday!

Ace Hotel Part II

Tomorrow night, I'm doing another set at Ace Hotel New York's Lobby Nights! There's a lot of new (and old but new to you) music I plan to share. Come through!

I'll be back at Ace later on this year doing a full month residency. Stay tuned!

Ace Hotel & Hip Hop Karaoke!

Hey guys! The Generations Party was so great! I put up some choice flicks from the night on my Instagram! Thanks to all who came and kept the dancefloor packed all night and thanks to Mawkus, Stefonix, Dstrukt, and Francis Chiser for the fun!

I have a few dates this week that I think you'll want to check out :)

Tomorrow night, I am back at Ace Hotel for their Lobby Nights. I'll be spinning 2 Wednesdays this month but I will be back later on in the year as well - stay tuned!

Thursday night, I'll be at Brooklyn Bowl for my most fun gig, Hip Hop Karaoke! I get to spin a 100% Hip Hop set from all decades, then I get to be your personal stage DJ while you belt out your favorite joints!

The Generations Party - This Friday at Kinfolk!

Generations is a bi-coastal party featuring 4 rotating DJs who spin music from certain decades: the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s!

I'm excited to be one of the guest DJs for the NYC edition, alongside Mawkus, Stefonix, and Francis Chiser!

I also selected one of my most favorite musical decades (though it was hard to pick just one). Come through and see which one I picked :)
